The International Violin Competition City of Bogotá is a unique initiative in Latin America, that seeks to promote excellence in violin performance, while providing a platform for the symphonic music ecosystem, particularly the entire world of string instruments, to strengthen while fostering engagement and audience diversity.
Bogotá, designated a UNESCO Creative City of Music, boasts a thriving classical music ecosystem. Its robust public music education system, alongside an outstanding network of youth and professional orchestras, is complemented by world-class theaters and an exceptional concert season. Hosting both the finest national talent and renowned international artists, the city stands as a leading musical hub in the region.

Participant conditions: 20 selected contestants will receive all-expenses-paid travel to Bogotá to attend the competition from October 30 through November 7.
*Presentation opportunities for first place: the winner will be playing a concert on the 2026 season of Bogota's Philharmonic Orchestra.

A total of 122 violinists from 30 countries applied. Here are the 20 selected, who will compete for $70,000 USD in prizes, from October 30 to November 7.

Semifinalists
After three intense and exciting elimination rounds, the jury selected the 10 semifinalists who will compete on November 4 and 5 for the three spots in the grand final, to be held on November 7 at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo. The selected semifinalists, listed in alphabetical order, are:

During the announcement of the 10 semifinalists, the jury president, Canadian master Lucie Robert, accompanied by the other four judges, said: "Remember: this is a long journey in your lives. You will take part in many competitions, you’ve probably already done several, or at least some of you have. There is always something to learn, even as you move forward. It is never perfect. So once again, congratulations. We are all very impressed by your level and by the dedication you bring to making music". Before concluding, she and her fellow judges offered a round of applause in honor of the other candidates who did not advance to this stage.

After two days of performances by the 10 semifinalists before the Colombian audience, the three violinists who will compete in the Grand Final of the Competition are:

Winners
Young talents from all over the world came to our city to demonstrate their virtuosity and remind us of the power of art to unite and inspire us.

In an exciting final at Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, violinist Ruifeng Lin (China) took first place.

Second place went to Maria Lundina (Russia) and third place to Lucilla Mariotti (Italy).

Colombian Iván Orlín Ariza received a special award for his performance of the work ‘Serenata pagana’.
